Afghanistan War

I understand the reasoning for the Afghanistan War, but this situation is very similar to the Iraq war. There is little understanding as to why the military is present in these Middle Eastern countries. The main question with both of these wars was the time management. The point of the “War on Terror” was not trying to spread democracy, it was to find and destroy the terrorist organizations responsible for 9/11. It took ten years for the U.S. to kill Osama Bin Laden, which was the apparent mission of the strongest military of the United States. A war that started in Afghanistan lasted because it was disguised by the government. Many people didn’t know the real reason why the country was going into war. If men and women new that Afghanistan was being invaded to spread democracy rather than hunt down terrorists, the support would not have been as strong.
Notes:
Started with 9/11
Bombing of Afghanistan with Britain to destroy Al Qaeda training camps
Taliban Leaves Afghanistan because of bombings
Bin Laden and Mullah Muhammad Omar evade capture
Hamid Karzai is sworn in as chairman of the interim Afghanistan Government
New Constitution is created and approved for Afghanistan
Karzai is elected as democratically as the first head of the country.
Bin Laden threatens the U.S. again taking full responsibility for the 9/11 attacks
Four Years pass with very little progress in the war until Obama sends in another 17000 troops due to a climb in civilian and soldier casualties
