Thomas Edison Phonograph Journal 5

The invention that Edison is most known for is his use of electricity with the light bulb he created. Many people forget that he patented over 1000 other inventions throughout his lifetime. These inventions were able to create a strong impact on the United States by helping its economy. One invention that was revolutionary during this time was the phonograph. The phonograph was unlike any other invention of its time because it was capable of capturing and playing the voices of others. It had a huge impact on the civil lives of citizens, providing more entertainment. But, most importantly this invention provided a new business opportunity for many. The main reason why Edison invented the phonograph was for the business world. He believed that the best use for this invention would be to record messages in the office to play back to employees so they could thoroughly and correctly write these messages down, repeating the message if necessary. This was seldom the primary way to use the invention as it became most impactful on the music industry. The recording of music by the phonograph was the main impact it had on the economy. Providing music to consumers without going to the concert was an appealing attribute to the invention. The high demand for music at the time made this invention even more popular. This machine was also able to provide thousands of jobs because it was so highly demanded. Edison can technically be known as the father of music production as he was the first to create a device to capture sounds. Many people are not able to picture or notice Edison as the pioneer of music production. He is mainly seen and known for his invention of the light bulb. Edison deserves the recognition of all of his revolutionary inventions, such as this one; because he has made such an impact on the world that we live in today. It is hard to imagine a world without lights, phones, sufficient energy production, and most importantly music! Edison was able to influence, create, or think of some version of these important features that are involved in our day to day lives and he deserves the recognition for what he has done.
