Thomas Edison was no doubt a man far beyond his years. He expressed this most visibly through his inventions, but surprisingly he was able to show how wise he was by his beliefs. He expressed in a newspaper interview the belief of wireless telegraphs, cars that will be based on electricity, energy produced only by water, and being able to use as much energy from burning coal as possible. He thought all situations out as much as he could. He thinks of situations such as these in order to intelligently preserve money, nature, time, and any other important human necessity. He knew that capability of energy and what it could produce. He knew that there were no boundaries with the resource and he wanted to figure out every way it could be used to positively influence people and their daily lives.  Today these questions and ideas are being examined in an environment that provides stronger resources then Edison had. Some of the ideas that Edison came up with have even come true today. The use of hydroelectric dams, electric cars, and cell phones are used every single day. The reason why Edison knew that these ideas would come true was because of one main economic belief, patience. He knew that he may not have the resources to create all of these ideas, but the possibility of these inventions being created is definitely possible. Time will provide great minds, such as Edison, who will create a future with an endless possibility of resources for everyday use.

I am learning about Thomas Edison because I want to find out how influential his ideas and inventions were in order to understand what kind of difference it made to change the United States of America.

How did Thomas Edison’s ideas and inventions influence the progression of the business and industry of the United States?

The ability to harness and use electricity was the most influential inventions in the world’s history. It was first used to replace candles and provide light for citizens. It eventually expanded and was used in all scenarios to provide new ways of living. The use of electricity was most influential in the businesses and industries of the United States. The invention of electricity was the main factor in starting the Industrial Revolution. Soon electricity was used to improve job quality, efficiency, and productivity. These improvements helped many employees and employers succeed in the United States economy.  The factors were encouraging to immigrants and helped draw in even more citizens. The desire to become an American was the economy of the United States. These men and women believed that the sidewalks were paved in gold because of the success of the country. The industries that were so reliant on electricity were becoming the center of the United States. The business and industries were affecting the economy, immigration, agriculture, transportation, and any aspect of life for the average American. This invention was the cause for such economic strength.

The world is constantly growing as time presents new people, with new ideas. These ideas have created growth in military, religion, and many other important aspects to the world. These ideas were a stimulant in creating the Industrial Revolution and helped to create a better United States economy. The inventions of the 1900’s were mostly stemmed off of Thomas Edison’s use of electricity. After the use of the light bulb, other inventions, such as new ways of transportation and communicating, were able to stem off. The late 1800’s and early 1900’s were a time of reconstruction and along with a new country, came new ideas. Soon, the United States was able to rapidly grow because of all of the inventors and inventions of the time. People like Edison, Ford, Olds, Benz, and Bell were able to not only create products that would gain revenue, but they also created more jobs. These men were different from most entrepreneurs and businessmen of their time. These men were smart enough to use their own inspirations and the inspirations of others to create products that would appeal to the United States consumers. They understood what the consumer wanted, so they would work hard in order to produce it. With products being consumed at high rates, because of the high supplies and demands, the country was booming. Jobs were everywhere, for everyone and the economy of the United States no longer solely relied on the agricultural business now. With the use of inventions, the United States was able to rapidly grow into an empire of its time.

Thomas Edison was one of the main catalysts of the Industrial Revolution. Not only did his inventions, which sparked the power generation, change the United States, but so did his economic ideas. He expressed his views on the U.S. economy in his "Treatise on Economic Policy and Business." In this document he highlighted many factors that would help create a successful U.S. economy. The interesting thing about this is the fact that Edison based success on human mentality more than human action. Edison believed that economic prosperity lied in the hearts of the business man, not in what was in their pocket. His ideas were based on creating fair pricings, engaging in written agreements, fair quality of products, and other accommodations that would create a reasonable atmosphere to create a business. Edison thought that the economy was imbalanced and based on selfishness, the country would fail. This imbalance is only effective when it involves the wealth of others, who have a right to their money, but will be dealt higher taxes.  Edison not only advocates for morale in business being the right thing to do, but also being a successful thing to do. Most people are unable to propose ideas that provide these two important variables. Success and morals are two of the most important values to a man and the fact that they are able to accomplish both is one of the most appealing ideas that anyone, of Edison’s decade or even the present decade, could think of. When looking at the most successful in the economy, past and present, they were all very smart and selfless at the same time. People such as Mark Zuckerberg and Bernie Madoff were selfish in business and lost more than just money because of it. These men lost friends and family because they valued money and themselves over others and this ended up causing these men to lose large sums of money. Edison knew that these men would end up in situations where they would lose because of it and used his Treatise to inform others about the effect of moral on business.

The use of turbines and generators has been used for the past century to provide energy for citizens all around the world. Energy has become a necessity in everyday life as its uses grew in time. Thomas Edison is well known for his invention of the light bulb. But, what most people forget to realize is another invention that also revolutionized the country, electric power stations. These stations were the reason why electricity was able to be so accessible. This access would provide multiple citizens with a strong tool that would help make certain lifestyles easier. It affected home life, transportation, career field, and propelling the United States into a new era, revolutionizing the country. The use of energy was extremely influential in aiding in the success of the Industrial Revolution in the United States. The U.S. had an economy based on agriculture and manual labor when it started off. Electricity became an important aspect in changing the United States economy. Electricity provided machinery to create more jobs and make certain ones easier. The electricity that gave machinery power gave jobs to the unemployed and helped boost the United States Economy into one of the strongest and richest countries in the world.

Race Relations In The Present (Not The Fun Present With Gift Wrapping)

These stories all referenced to discrimination and hate crimes to black men and women of the community. Unfortunately, even in the United States, equality is a battle that will never be won. People will never stop being judgemental and these judgements are what create outcasting. These types of situations are able to be seen at the college of Michigan State University. At the college, a series of hate crimes towards black people were recorded. This situation is troubling the communities that exist in Michigan because these actions create separation. People are unsure about the safety and importance that corresponds to these recent acts of racism. The community is moving away and questioning the State Government as to how they are and should approach the situation. This is also impacting and has already impacted men and women of both races.  The African Americans lose faith in the U.S. because they still must deal with racism. The U.S. is about equality, yet these men and women are not being treated equally. The U.S. has fought multiple battles in order to preserve equality and rid the country of racism.  African American people believed that these battles that were fought in the Civil War and during the Civil-Rights Movement were the end of their troubles. These men and women still face inequality because of their skin color and these types of situations create fear. The whites were affected because they were able to see the shame in how after oppressing the black man, we still find it necessary to treat them unfairly. Although racism still exists, our country has become more wholesome throughout time. More people have been able to care and relate to others during most situations without being judgemental.
